LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A warm and humid Easter is ahead with some showers at times, but nothing that looks too problematic overall.

The warm and breezy weather will go nowhere on Easter Sunday, with another day of highs in the low 80’s, clouds and winds that will gust between 20-30 mph.

Speaking of rain chances, some pop-up showers will be possible at times during the day as a cold front slowly moves closer. Fortunately, the most widespread rain is expected to stay to the west into Texas which means plans overall are in decent shape. If you’re on the way to morning services, keep in mind a couple showers could be around. Likewise, afternoon easter egg hunts should be able to go on though keep an eye to the sky as a pop-up shower or storms also will be possible.

The higher rain chances may hold off until Monday as that front stalls near the region. Where exactly it stalls will determine whether SWLA will end up with the highest coverage of rain or not, but some scattered showers or storms will be possible on Monday.

The pattern for the rest of the week will favor at least a couple showers or storms daily though coverage will fluctuate from day to day. It looks like the highest coverage of rain may take place Wednesday as an upper-level disturbance may bring numerous showers or storms to the area.

Temperatures will remain steady in the lower to middle 80s with higher heat indices due to the humidity.
