Is the Stock Market Open Today? Here Are the Trading Hours for Good Friday.

Good Friday is here, and it’s time for Wall Street to catch its breath.

The market has a lot to digest, from the ongoing tariff uncertainty to the looming possibility of a recession. The S&P 500 tallied a death cross earlier this week, as the 50-day moving average fell below the 200-day moving average for the first time since 2022.

This week may come as a gift to investors looking for a moment of reprieve amid the chaos. Here’s what to know about trading hours on Friday.

Is the Stock Market Open Today?

All U.S. stock exchanges observe Good Friday, meaning the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market will both be closed. They will reopen at at their regular time, 9:30 a.m. Eastern, on Monday.

The bond market, meanwhile, shuttered on Thursday at 2 p.m. Eastern and will remain closed through Friday. Over-the-counter markets will also be closed.

 and CME Group both observe the pre-Easter holiday. This means the Cboe Futures Exchange and CME Globex trading platform will be closed on April 18.

What About International Markets?

, the Euronext Paris, the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange are among the international markets closed on Friday. However, the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Tokyo Stock Exchange are among those that remain open.

Some foreign exchanges will remain closed for Easter Monday, including the Euronext Paris and the London Stock Exchange.

Will Banks and Post Offices Be Open?

The Federal Reserve observes 11 federal holidays each year, but Good Friday isn’t one of them. That means most bank branches will be open, including big names like Capital One

The U.S. Postal Service will operate as usual on April 18, meaning USPS locations will be open and mail will be delivered as usual.

What About Private Carriers?

Both UPS and FedEx will offer pickup and delivery services on Friday. UPS Store and FedEx Office locations will be open, as well.

What Is Good Friday?

Good Friday is a Christian holiday celebrated two days before Easter. It commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ, and is historically a day of sorrow and fasting.

Easter, which honors the resurrection of Jesus, falls on April 20 this year. It concludes a 40-day period known as Lent, during which Christians focus on prayer, almsgiving, and abstaining from eating meat on certain days.
