Partey and White train ahead of Madrid trip, Jorginho out

Thomas Partey is fit to face Real Madrid despite being forced off during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Brentford.

The Ghana international, who opened the scoring, “felt something” and was replaced as a precaution on 69 minutes, but he took part in this morning’s open training session ahead of this afternoon’s flight to Spain.

There was also a positive update on Ben White, who missed the weekend’s action but was involved at London Colney.

Less encouraging news surrounds Jorginho. The Italy international was substituted late on against the Bees after taking a blow to the ribs that left him struggling to breathe.

According to BBC Sport, he is definitely out for Wednesday and rumours suggest he could be sidelined for a few weeks, although the issue is not thought to be season-ending. With his contract expiring in the summer, it would be a shame if that turns out to be his final appearance in an Arsenal shirt.

We may learn more when Mikel Arteta faces the media at the Bernabeu this evening.

Arsenal have received a significant boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. Key players Thomas Partey and Ben White have returned to full training and are expected to be available for selection. Partey, who was substituted during the recent draw against Brentford due to muscle discomfort, has recovered and is set to travel with the squad. Similarly, White, who missed the Brentford match after sustaining a knock in training, has also rejoined the team and is in contention for the upcoming fixture .

However, midfielder Jorginho will be absent from the match. The Italian international suffered a rib injury during the Brentford game, which has left him unable to train and will sideline him for several weeks.

Despite these injury concerns, Arsenal hold a commanding 3-0 lead from the first leg and will aim to secure their place in the semi-finals during the return leg in Madrid.
